The database of the Danish FSA for company announcements shows published net short positions in shares admitted to trading in Denmark. The database contains all announcements of this type published since 1 November 2012 under the rules in the Regulation on short selling.
According to the rules, a position holder’s net short position must be published when exceeding 0.5 % of the issued share capital. The position holder must subsequently make a notification each time a net short position changes by 0.1 % or more.
When a position holder reduces his net short position to below 0.5 %, the notification must include the number of shares in the position at the time of the notification. After 24 hours the announcement will be marked historical.
An announcement of a net short position is moreover marked as historical when a position holder has notified a subsequent announcement in the same share.
Choose 'Shortselling' as announcement type if you only want to see announcements of net short positions.
When searching for shortselling announcements, it is possible to exclude historical announcements. Thus, making it possible to show only current positions, also called active positions.
List of short positions
The Danish FSA publishes a list of net short positions that have reached or exceeded 0.5 % of issuer’s issued share capital. The list is based on the short selling notifications submitted to the Danish FSA’s database for company announcements. The listed positions are distributed over position holders. The list also states when a position was last changed.
The list contains all published net short positions with position date from 1 November 2012 until the end of the latest month. The list is updated approximately once a month.

List of the sum of net short positions at or above 0.1 %
The Danish FSA receives notifications of net short positions that reach or exceed 0.1 % of issuer’s issued share capital according to the rules set forth in the EU Short Selling Regulation. Notifications between 0.1 % and 0.5 % of the issued share capital are not required to be published, and they are therefore not publicly available in the Danish FSA’s database for company announcements.
The Danish FSA, however, aggregates all reported net short positions of 0.1 % or above and publishes a list of total net short positions in Danish shares. The list is based on all reported net short positions with position date from 1 November 2012 until the latest update. Note that the overview for a given period is based on the reporting limit applicable during the period. Prior to 16 March 2020 the reporting threshold was 0.2 % of a company's issued share capital. Due to increased volatility on the financial markets in 2020 triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, ESMA decided to temporarily lower the reporting threshold of 0.2 % to 0.1 %, effective from 16 March 2020.
The temporarily lowered reporting threshold of 0.1 % was effective until 19 March 2021, after which the reporting threshold was set back to 0.2 %. From 20 March 2021 to 28 January 2022, the reporting limit was 0.2 %, until the European Commission decided to permanently lower the reporting limit to 0.1 %. Since 31 January 2022, the reporting limit has been 0.1 %, therefore the Danish FSA has since this date received notifications of net short positions at or above 0.1 %. The list is updated approximately once a month.
